Learning Standards:

PK.S.1.1 (Scientific Inquiry and Methodology): Campers will engage in exploratory play to understand simple scientific concepts behind building structures, such as balance and stability.

PK.S.3.2 (Physical Science): Campers will observe and discuss the characteristics of materials they use in woodworking, like wood versus plastic, to develop an understanding of everyday materials.

PK.ELA.5.1 (Speaking and Listening): Campers will effectively communicate and describe their building processes and the functions of their structures, enhancing vocabulary and expressive skills.

PK.ARTS.1.1 (Creating): Campers will creatively express their ideas through the design and decoration of their obstacle course structures, fostering imagination and artistic skills.

PK.SE.1.1 (Social-Emotional Development): Campers will work cooperatively in teams to build obstacle courses, promoting skills in sharing, taking turns, and collaborative problem-solving.

PK.ELA.4.1 (Language for Social Communication): Through collaborative tasks, campers will use language to solve problems and make collective decisions, boosting their social communication skills.

PK.MATH.3.1 (Geometry and Spatial Sense): Campers will recognize and name shapes, describe spatial relationships, and compare positions while arranging components of their obstacle courses.

Inventing the Future of Transportation

What if bikes could travel on water, or cars could fly in the sky? You’ll need to buckle in as we visit the new NORY City, a metropolis filled with vehicles zooming, flying, and diving all around you. We won’t just be watching these machines move, instead you’ll be the one engineering them! Whether you want to build a car that can grow wings, or a bike equipped with floaties, each vehicle is only limited by your imagination. Using microelectronics and early engineering skills, we’ll explore fundamental physics principles through playful pilot tests and exhilarating races. This city is where imagination meets innovation, turning every idea into the inspiration for futuristic vehicles and smart cars!

Campers will:

  • Create futuristic transportation inventions by building wheels, propellers, and simple rail systems that help people travel in imaginative new ways.
  • Test how their smart vehicles move by rolling, floating, and pushing their designs to discover how speed, balance, and motion work through playful experiments.
  • Race across NORY City together in a citywide adventure where campers send their vehicles on exciting journeys through streets, paths, and challenge zones they helped design.
