Learning Standards:
Science and Technology
Scientific Inquiry (PK.S.1)
PK.S.1.1 & PK.S.1.3: By building their own space controllers and exploring circuits, children will ask questions about how their creations work and seek solutions by testing different components. This encourages scientific thinking and problem-solving as they help their alien friend repair the shuttle and navigate their way home.
The Living Environment (PK.S.4) & The Physical Setting (PK.S.5)
PK.S.4.3 & PK.S.5.1: Through engaging storytelling and hands-on experiments, children will learn about planets, stars, and rocket launches, deepening their understanding of the universe and the concept of space travel while charting a course back to Noridia.
Engineering and Design
Engineering Design Process (PK.S.6)
PK.S.6.1 & PK.S.6.2: Campers will solve real-world challenges by constructing space controllers that must perform specific tasks during their missions, such as navigating obstacles or communicating with the base. This process nurtures purpose-driven thinking and introduces them to the engineering design process.
Cognitive Development in Mathematics
Patterns (PK.M.4)
PK.M.4.1: Your child will identify and create patterns using the buttons and switches on their space controllers to execute commands, helping them predict and understand sequences of operations needed to navigate the galaxy.
Language, Communication, and Literacy
Listening and Understanding (PK.ELAL.2)
PK.ELAL.2.1 & PK.ELAL.2.3: Campers will follow complex, multi-step directions during the assembly of their space controllers and respond to interactive storytelling about space adventures, sparking their imagination and enhancing their understanding of the universe.
Social-Emotional Development
Social-Emotional Development (PK.SED)
PK.SED.2.4 & PK.SED.3.2: Children will learn to manage excitement and setbacks encountered during space missions, adapting to changes in game scenarios and cooperating in a team setting while helping their alien friend.
Cooperation with Peers (PK.SED.4)
PK.SED.4.1: Working collaboratively in small groups to build space controllers and complete missions will enhance teamwork, conflict resolution skills, and sharing, fostering a positive social-emotional learning experience.
