This summer, we’re excited to inject a new sense of discovery and excitement for our more experienced engineers (ages 8 - 12) via NORY Coding Initiative.
What is NORY Coding exactly? Doesn’t NORY already introduce new technology, themes, and challenges each week? How is this any different? NORY Coding is more than just a buzz word for us. It’s the start of a more aggressive pursuit of our dream goals for our Masters campers (8-12 y.o.). We’re dedicated to helping our campers:
* Push the limits of what they can achieve via new technology & software customization possibilities
* Develop a strong foundation for logical thinking via coding concepts & engineering challenges
* Create strong mental bridges between new concepts and familiar ones in order to help maintain a passion for learning that continues long after their time at NORY
So what will NORY Coding look like more specifically this summer? Each week, our NORY Masters (8-12 y.o.) will spend 1-2 hours each day exploring new, programmable robots & actually coding different behaviors to accomplish specific goals & challenges using their existing tech. One week, they could be using a drag-and-drop visual coding language to give custom directions to battle bots they’ve built from scratch. Another week, they might program proprietary robots (proven to engage young engineers) that will take on obstacles created by their classmates. No matter what activities lie in store each week, NORY Coding will always be about nurturing each student’s curiosity and motivating them to take on new challenges with passion & excitement.
We can’t wait to see what our NORY Masters will invent this summer as they lead their peers & sibling classmates with exciting visions & masterful execution in coding/engineering.
Sports add-ons are only available for those who join the STEM Full-Day program.
Our UWS (98/Columbus), Gramercy, FiDi, and Brooklyn locations will have a swim add-on option for 4-12yo campers. Swimmers practice instructional swim at a nearby pool (each location camp page has pool information). The swim program is open for beginner and advanced swimmers! Campers swim for 45 minutes of instructional swim, 3 days a week.
