Woodworking NORY-lympics: Building Giant Sports Games!

Have you ever felt the fun of playing team sports with your friends all day long? If you love playing sports, this is the week where we’ll reinvent our favorite sports, creating robotic and wooden, supersized versions to play with the entire campsite! Our athletic Explorers will be able to roll balls, toss rings, score points, and cheer on their teammates in their own olympics they created. By engineering big sporting equipment with hands-on building and robotic materials, they’ll be able to invent their own hilarious and super-fun sporting events. From any classic sport to games they’ve always wanted to try, Explorers will upgrade these games and see what happens when their ideas turn into real games. Get ready for a week of team games, sports action, and big fun at the NORY-lympics!

Campers will:

• Build giant wooden sports equipment using child-safe woodworking tools to create ramps, targets, and game pieces they can run, jump, and score with. 
• Play-test and strengthen their robotic sports games by noticing what works, what feels tricky, and how small changes can make the game more fun. 
• Celebrate together at the NORY-lympics as they cheer, play, and show off their supersized sports games during a joyful classroom field day.
