Learning Standards:
PK.SED.2 (Positive Relationships with Adults and Peers): Campers will work collaboratively with peers and instructors, fostering positive relationships and teamwork through group projects and activities.
PK.ELAL.1 (Engaging in Conversation and Collaboration): Campers will engage in conversations and collaborative discussions about their game designs, enhancing their communication and social interaction skills.
PK.MATH.9 (Understanding Shapes and Spatial Relationships): Campers will design and build arcade games, using shapes and spatial relationships to create detailed blueprints and game elements.
PK.SCI.3 (Exploring Properties of Materials and Tools): Campers will explore and use various materials and tools in their game prototypes, gaining an understanding of their properties and applications.
PK.ARTS.1 (Creating Art with a Purpose): Campers will create artistic elements for their arcade games, using their imagination and creativity to design visually appealing and functional game components.
PK.TECH.1 (Using Technology Appropriately): Campers will learn and apply basic robotic and engineering principles to their game designs, using technology appropriately to enhance their interactive experiences.
Architects' Landscaping: Giant Community Garden
Imagine if our empty campsite had a magical transformation, blooming into a bustling garden packed with every type of flower, crop, or plant you could think of and agriculture-bots humming across the flourishing fields? With each day, our classrooms will be filled with your giant wooden garden structures, from raised beds to pathways and frames, using real woodworking tools. As the garden grows, you’ll need to design plant-supporting robots and smart watering systems that help care for everything you’ve built. From deciding the best place for building the garden bed to how the water should flow throughout the garden, each design choice the class makes will impact their final garden. By blending intentional architecture, creativity, and collaborative engineering, our bright Inventors will turn a plain space into a living, blooming community garden by themselves.
