Return of the Renaissance: Robotic Theater, Art, and Design

Imagine stepping into a theater where the stage is alive, props roll across the floor, costumes move and glow, and the whole world reacts to your story. You’re going to be the creator and the performer as you design, a living, breathing theater powered by robotics, art, and imagination, Inspired by plays such as Aladdin and the Lion King, Inventors will create their own performance supported by animatronic animal costumes, moving props, and responsive stage pieces that light up, spin, and react during the performance. Just like artists and inventors of the Renaissance, you’ll explore many creative paths at once, sculpting, painting, designing sets, adding music, and engineering how everything works together. You won’t just watch the show, you’ll be on stage, performing inside a one-of-a-kind robotic theater performance where every Inventor plays a role in a show that could only exist at NORY.

Campers will:

• Build a robotic stage using motors, lights, and art techniques to create moving props, interactive backdrops, and animated set pieces.
  
• Design animatronic costumes that move or react during the performance, blending storytelling, engineering, and artistic expression.
  
• Perform in a live robotic theater show where they act, move, and tell a story on the stage they designed and built together.
