Why NORY STEM Camp Emphasizes Hands-On Engineering Projects
At NORY STEM Camp, campers engage in hands-on engineering projects, transforming the campsite into dynamic, large-scale constructions. They build Olympic-inspired sports games using woodworking skills and create a life-size Ninja Warrior course for all to enjoy. These projects are not just about construction; they are designed to develop essential skills in our campers.
NORY campers are immersed in projects that push the boundaries of what they think they can achieve. By constructing supersized engineering feats, they gain the confidence to tackle advanced challenges, redefining their capabilities. This process naturally fosters resilience as they learn to persevere through complex tasks, seeing firsthand the results of their hard work and ingenuity.

Building Confidence to Tackle Advanced Challenges
TThrough these projects, campers develop vital collaborative skills. Working together on large-scale tasks requires empathy-driven teamwork and effective communication. As they coordinate their efforts and share responsibilities, campers enhance their ability to listen, express ideas clearly, and support each other, building a foundation for strong interpersonal relationships and successful teamwork.
These skills aren't left to chance, they're intentionally built into every NORY experience. This summer, we've developed a Multi-Intelligence Growth Map for each age group, connecting every weekly STEM adventure with developmental goals like empathy, collaboration, resilience, design thinking, and leadership. That means every engineering challenge is designed not only to teach STEM concepts, but also to help children grow into confident changemakers.

Explorers (Ages 3-4) | Inventors (Ages 5-7) | Masters (Ages 8-12)
Developing Collaborative Skills and Soft Skills
Hands-on engineering projects at NORY teach campers how to manage and execute large-scale projects that span multiple days. They learn to plan, allocate resources, and adjust strategies as needed, gaining valuable project management skills. This experience teaches them the importance of organization, time management, and adaptability, preparing them for future challenges in any field.
By engaging in these STEM projects, NORY campers not only enjoy the thrill of building impressive structures but also develop the skills necessary to be changemakers in an evolving world.
